Acne starts in the same way for everyone but after that it takes it own form depending on the skin type and skin conditions. The different acne types include the following.
Blackhead or Open Comedones:
Blackhead is a type of acne which occurs when the dead cells of the skin pores become sticky due to the excess sebum production by the oil glands and partially blocks the pores. Blackhead doesn’t occur due to the dirt but occurs due to the release of excess sebum.
Whitehead or Closed Comedones:

The bacteria called “Propionibacterium acnes” are trapped in the pore when the partial blockage becomes complete. This bacterium breaks the sebum and forms a irritating stuff called as free fatty acid. This leads to pus formation, redness and swelling causing whitehead.

Pustules:

The advanced stage of whiteheads is pustules which are more serious than whiteheads. The pus formed in the pores is combination of bacteria, dead cells and white blood cells (WBC).
