One of the excellent and awesome technique and a mental discipline which has been practiced by many people from thousands of years to get beyond the deeper states of mind is nothing other than the meditation. It is the spiritual practice and a part of yoga which helps in body relaxation and mind calmness. In past days, it was actually been a part of Eastern culture only. But as the time passed, it gained great popularity and at present it is being practiced perfectly in the Western societies too and to say exactly, it has been practiced by the people of the entire world. Instead of referring meditation as a technique, it is quite suitable to refer it as a way of life which helps to gain perfect control over both conscious and subconscious mind. Mastering and controlling our mind in turn helps in gaining the victory in what ever the work we take up. As we master our mind, the power of self-control can be achieved easily. Meditation includes various interesting practices which are quite simple and easy to perform anywhere and everywhere without the use of any special equipment. The main aim of meditation is to control our busy monkey mind, to discover the various mysterious and interior layers of our consciousness, to experience and gain peaceful mind and to improve the concentration of our mind. It has been practiced from past till now without any disturbance because of the physiological and psychological benefits it provides. Meditation is classified into two types whose details are as follows.

Concentrative Meditation
In concentrative meditation we have to simply sit quietly in a place where the environment is calm and pleasant and just focus our attention towards our breath. This meditation helps to maintain constant and calm mind.

Mindfulness Meditation
Mindfulness meditation must be practiced in the following way. Sit quietly by keenly concentrating on whatever goes in mind by not reacting either towards memories, thoughts or worries. This mindfulness meditation helps to maintain clear, calm and non-reactive mind by which the concentration power can be improved a lot.
