Skin allergy can be caused due to several varying factors which can consist of heat, irregularities in immune system, strong medications or contagious infections. This allergy can also be irritation which initiates response in the immune system.

Red and small itchy bumps might be the result of several skin conditions or allergies, these might have been triggered by the allergic response to any fragrance, chemical, or skin diseases. There are also certain food items which might trigger allergic reactions resulting in itchy red bumps, also mosquitoes, hornets, wasps and bees are prominent for their stings and bites. Allergic reactions to specific bites are often mild and those who experience stronger reactions will need immediate medical assistance.

Whenever there is an allergic reaction, the body released histamine which attaches cells of the body which causes swelling and itching among several other symptoms. Antihistamines are the one which prevent histamines from attaching to the cells thereby stopping the itchy feeling.

  1. Rub few ice cubes on the infected area which will ease the discomfort due to red bumps on the skin and also lessens swelling.
  2. The first step would be to stop scratching which will make the skin more irritated instead try some gel or cream to relieve from itching.
  3. Use some fresh milk on red, itchy skin bumps that will speed up the healing process and reduce the swelling and redness.
  4. Turmeric powder can also help in relieving the itchiness and swelling related to these red itchy bumps.
  5. Spreading the mixture of milk and turmeric for nearly ten minutes on the affected area will relieve the itchiness and swelling.
  6. Honey is also known for its soothing, antiseptic and quickly healing effect. It has to be applied for nearly 20 minutes on the area to be washed away with water later on.

At times, there are cases when these itchy, small red bumps are more annoying rather than being a serious medical threat. However, it is necessary to have the skin tissue looked at by a professional doctor to make sure that the matter is not too serious to be worried about.

If there are any red bumps which are caused due to the acne might become more infected resulting in becoming acne cysts, nodules and even more acne scarred due to inflammation. Red bumps which change color or increase in size or shape can also be a symptom of cancers like melanoma which have to be examined thoroughly.

Appropriate treatment for these red, itchy bumps would be to avoid whatever the irritation is caused by leading to the red bumps. There are other cases for which a counter cream can be used that have hydro cortisone as the main element that helps in reduction of redness and relive the area from itching.
